DESCRIPTION:The Medicine Wheel is an ancient\, powerful navigational way of life employed by Indigenous peoples throughout the world for health and healing. \nWe will initially meet at the Whole Foods on Miller Ave in Mill Valley\, then caravan together to assemble atop Mt. Tamalpais\, the Sacred mountain of the Coastal Miwok\, Pomo and Ohlone Nations for a Ceremony to create a Medicine Wheel (Sacred Hoop of Life) in honour and celebration of the seasonal shifts and thresholds and to Pray for All of Our Relations. DESCRIPTION:Indigenous Medicine is the most ancient form of healing on the planet. Its elegant\, sophisticated methods remain potent and efficacious to this day. The cycles of Nature are honoured and intimate relationships with the Earth and Unseen realms are cultivated. This experiential course presents Indigenous perspectives– principles and practices- related to Medicine Ways. It is designed to introduce and inform the participant of the rich\, complex worldviews and lifeways of Native peoples as well as to foster religious/ cultural sensitivity and personal healing.  Exposed to and immersed in the Sacred traditions\, Dreaming and healing practices of Indigenous traditions\, participants will directly benefit from a deepening of relationship to the Source\, the Ancestors\, Earth and All of our Relations. Furthermore\, an appreciation and honouring of the diversity of other cultures will result. Contemporary matters regarding cultural appropriation\, the decolonization of “shamanism” and Sacred Plant Medicines will be addressed. \nIn terms of some of the topics that will be touched upon: \nIndigenous Perspectives & Healing Modalities\, The Sacred Hoop of Life (Medicine Wheel)\, Dreams & Sacred Plant Medicine\, Matrilineal Ways of Relationship and the Role of the Sacred/Earth/Ancestors and Community\, Death & Dying\, Cultivating Cultural Sensitivity & Awareness\, Decolonizing “shamanism”\, Contemporary Issues/Challenges & Applications.
