Winter Solstice Salutations Relations,

Praying you and your families are in health, peace and balance, relishing the cooling temperatures and fiery colors of fall.

To quote the Beat poet Jack Kerouac, I am currently "on the road" hence the delay in sending the calendar. Reflecting upon the amazing whirlwind tour in Germany from which I returned not long ago - Munich, Koeln, Mendig, Weimar, Unterumbach...I was warmly received in each city. Ceremonies (including in observance of the breathtaking Full Moon Lunar eclipse) and intensives were well attended and there were many requests for healings and Doctorings. Such favorable responses in fact I have invitations to Austria, Switzerland, Italy and even Turkey! Profound gratitude to my students and Tiospaye for their generosity, hospitality, support and coordination of my journey - It would not have been possible without you! It was also an honour to return and serve as a keynote speaker and presenter at the International Congress on Ethnotherapies and Holistic Medicine in Munich. I am grateful to the organizers for the privilege to share Native Medicine with the peoples of Europe and to connect with colleagues from all over the world. I look forward to returning in the Spring of next year.

Great news - I am officially a published author! Available through Bear & Co (as well as online), the book to which I submitted a chapter is entitled Shamanic Transformations True Stories of the Moment of Awakening. The editor is Itzak Berry. Auspicious number 16 is my chapter.

The completion of my contribution and the arrival of this work inspires me to commence writing my own book, the provisional title of which is: Healing the Human Being - Indigenous Ways of Wisdom, Medicine and Connection.

Additionally, I received word that the Mongolian Ministry of Education, Culture and Science is considering me for an award in recognition of my service on behalf of Indigenous peoples and the protection and preservation of traditional shamanism.

Certainly not coincidences, during the Four Elements intensive, which occurred at the Institute in September, the Thunders heard our petition and appeal, bringing the very first desperately needed rains of the season to this drought stricken area. The second arrival of the Sacred Waters occurred on the day we initiated our new Initi (Purification Lodge) having reconstructed it the day before on October 31st (Samhain/Halloween). Truly a great Blessing and auspicious confirmation that intent and Prayers are heard and answered.

As I compose this reflection, I am flying back from Colorado where I conducted Ceremonies and teachings after a sixteen year hiatus in that state. Feels nourishing and nurturing to reconnect with family, friends and relations with the backdrop of the snow covered peaks. I have been invited to return there next year as well. November will find me in the Morongo Valley (Southern California), Puerto Rico then back to the Institute in Novato for the intensive The Shaman as Artist at the end of the month.

Blessings & Safe Journeys in the season of Holy days,
Chief Tsunka Wakan Sapa (Black Horse)
